Every bride knows that she needs four things before she walks down the aisle: something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. This little scavenger hunt is a fun activity to accessorize your wedding-day look, but what exactly should you wear? Let’s talk about some of my favorite ways brides have sneaked that something blue into their white wedding ensemble.

Your Shoes

Shoes are a fun way to add a little personality to even the simplest and most classic looks. A royal blue pump peeking out under a white dress is just so adorable! Best of all, this something blue is easily hidden under your dress when standing at the altar. Therefore you don’t have to sacrifice your all-white bridal look.

A Little Embroidery

Are you the type of bride that’s into sweet, romantic gestures? You might want to consider getting some blue embroidery somewhere on your wedding gown. Stitch on your wedding date, yours and your spouse’s names, or even a favorite quote about love in blue thread, and you have something blue that you’ll remember fondly forever!

A Blue Clutch Bag

Look at any bride halfway through a wedding reception (or sometimes even after the ceremony) and you’ll see a woman who’s beautiful, in love, and happy… but who could probably afford to touch up her lipstick. One way to avoid this fate is simply to bring a cute clutch with you to the venue! You can store the essentials and grab your bridesmaids for a quick touch up during the night. And, if your bag is blue, so much the better!

Your “Better Half!”

If there’s one accessory who is likely to be by your side all day at your wedding, it’s the love of your life. So, why not have them act as your “something blue”? What if your hubby wears a few blue accessories like a bow tie or boutonniere (or even a royal blue suit)? Sitting next to you at the sweetheart table, his blue look will complete your wedding day requirements… and you can stick to that all-white look you’ve been dreaming of!
