When a bride walks down the aisle, she usually carries a bouquet of flowers. This little bundle of blossoms is a very special part of an already special day; many brides try to preserve their bouquets later on as a lasting symbol of their wedding.

Even if you don’t preserve the flowers, you can still bring some extra meaning to your walk down the aisle by adding something special. Here are a few examples!

Something Old

Do you want to pay homage to your mother or grandmother on your big day… but don’t want to wear her dress? Take some fabric or lace from her gown (with her permission of course) and wrap it around the stem of the flowers. This is a simple, subtle way to connect your wedding with the ceremonies of the past.

Something New

Here’s a quick tip for the grooms out there: surprise your bride with a gift on her bouquet! Talk with your florist and wedding planner and see if you can secure a pair of earrings to her ribbon or stow some other sweet present between the flowers. This is a fun way to treat your future wife and add some sparkle to her bouquet!

Something Personal

Your wedding bouquet is also a great opportunity to display a little part of your personality in a unique and beautiful way. Are you a bookworm? Consider getting a quote from your favorite novel stitched onto the bouquet ribbon. Are you very religious? Wrap a religious item, like a rosary, around your bouquet and carry it with you down the aisle. Do you want to honor relatives who’ve passed away? Pin small photos of them to the stem of your bouquet. You can even have your florist arrange your bouquet around the photos.

These little details will add meaning to your bouquet and make your wedding day even more special.
