How to Entertain Kids at Your Wedding

Kids. You know a few — maybe you have a few — and you love them to pieces. They’re fun, sweet, and just so cute! But when it comes to special occasions (your wedding, for example), having kids in attendance can be a big problem.

Wanna keep the little ones entertained on your special day? Here are a few suggestions:

Make Activity Books

The ceremony is by far the most difficult part of any wedding for a child. To them, it’s just 30 minutes (or more) of sitting still and being quiet — kids hate that!

To prevent your littlest guests from losing their cool while you say “I do,” hand out printed activity books and a small box of crayons. This will keep them occupied until dinner time.

Plan a Scavenger Hunt

Wedding receptions are much more entertaining for little ones than the ceremony, but all the speeches and reception traditions (bouquet toss, anniversary dance, etc.) can be a little boring for kids who don’t get the meaning behind them.

One way to engage the kiddos is to give them their own game to play; hide certain items around the reception venue and have them hunt them down! They’ll have a great time and be out of everyone else’s hair.

Let Them Cut a Rug

If you’ve spent any time around kids, you know that they LOVE to dance. Even babies have been known to bounce to the beat when a good song starts to play! One way to entertain your child guests (and their parents) is to give the little ones their own time on the dance floor.

Have the DJ play one or two kid-friendly tunes and invite all the kids to cut a rug all on their own. This will give the kids a chance to have some fun, burn off some energy, and give you a super cute performance!
